What Brake fluid??
I will be completely replacing and bleeding my brake fluid in next couple weeks, I saw two different 5.1's silicone based and non silicone based!!! Whats the difference?
Also how much fluid do the 325's hold approx?
Thanks
Marc

Avoid silicone based brake fluid as our caliper and master cylinder seals aren't made for it and can leak, the silicone attacks the rubber and swells it causing leaks. Not good.
Either use a good quality dot 4 (standard brake fluid) or get a non-silicone dot 5.1
I've got ATE superblue ready to go in, It's a very high boiling point fluid compatible with dot 4 and it's a funky blue colour so you know when you've got all the old stuff out. Costs about Ԛ£18 a litre, used to be able to get it from ECP but they no longer stock it.
Cheers,
Iain T

I think its the vicosity and temp range of the fluid.
Dot 4 is the normal one that most car manufactures use.
Dot 5 will run hotter before boiling etc

Used to use Super Blue in my Evo 6 and have used it in everything else since, it's a good value/performance compromise. Tried to get some from ECP a couple of months back but didn't have any in, said they could get it next day though...have they stopped stocking it now?
I was told ATE Super Blue is what BMW use from the factory?
ATE also do the same fluid but in yellow, makes bleeding the system easy (it's called ATY 500 or something similar).
A good alternative is Motul RBF600 (think that's what it's called).

ECP don't post brake fluid (heard that before somewhere), they will get it in for you though if you ask for it.
Ask for either ATE Super Blue or ATE Racing Blue (they had it listed as Racing Blue down at Southampton).

I heard that from someone else also!! I'm not gonna travel for it, i'm sure 5.1 will be sufficient for my journeys to work and back!!!325tracky wrote:ECP don't post brake fluid (heard that before somewhere), they will get it in for you though if you ask for it.
