Hi,
I have a 1989 316(1766cc) M10 Carb 2BE (not auto choke) and where i should have a rev counter there is a clock(Time). :? Is this common or did someone rip the rev counter out?? If its standard would it be possible to fit a rev counter from another Bimmer and if so, where on the engine does the sensor go???

Any Help Appreciated, Thank You. :)

The clock is a factory thing on some 316's, I think its from the autos, but I could be wrong. If you wanted to put in a tacho to replace the clock you'd have to make sure that the tacho has the plug in to get its input. You'd also have to make sure you have the right coding plug, ie. a tacho from a 318 will give incorrect readings if you plug it straight into a 325.

The early 316s came with that as std. I didn't think they were as late as 89 on UK spec. :?

So ur sayin the only tacho that would work is one out of a 316, not 318 320 or 325?? R the Irish versions the same as the UK Ones??
