Hi I built a 2.7 about 18months ago and just finally got around to fitting it , but i think i must have not set the timing correctly can someone tell me the best way to set this up with the motor in. I've skimmed the block and fitted schrick cam with vernier.

thanks

I got my Shrick Cam with vernier set up by the guys down at Bexley Motor works. They are probably worth a call.
All i can say is that he used a DTI guage to it set up.

Hi

You set them up on a rolling road, take a few power runs with different levels of advance.

easy fix to get you running

fit stock cam pulley , turn to TDC mark

ensure crank is also @ tdc.

Remove the stock pulley WITHOUT rotating the camshaft or crank

fit vernier with outer to inner bolts loose

fir cambelt and allow the tensioner to tension it all up, the outer of the cam pulley should rotate.

Tighten vernier and roatae the engine by hand to ensure valves miss pistons

Then go and play on a dyno, 1-2 degrees advance seems to work best.

Thanks gents! Ant i got a chip of you months and months ago, Now have the car running and the rest of the car will soon be finished, Do you think it would be worthwhile me bringing the car up to you for fine tuning or do you think your programme would be o.k.? Its got eta crank, early 2.5 pistons, 284/272 cam, gas flowed head, lightened and balanced, full stainless and a 6 branch. If so any idea of cost?

cheers rich

might need the throttle stop and TPS tweaked to get the idle smooth like butter, and we can tweka for part throttle low load mix, costs depend on time taken, no "parts" required :thumb:

get her sorted and gimme a shout if you have issues you cant resolve, the chip was specific to your spec , not a generic file.
