I don't know if there are chips for the 316i. If there are, you'll probably see between 0 - 15 bhp (most likely around 10) gains, and it should improve fuel economy by 2 or 3 mpg (which to me, getting about 8mpg, is quite a lot, but if you're already getting 28 - 30 mpg on your 316i then it'll be fairly minimal)

Well worth £30 though.

Because even a re-map would make next to no gains
Engine conversions, Auto to manual conversions, parts, servicing etc etc... For anything e30 call 07718 901737

All a 'chip' can do is exploit compromises in the mapping of the original chip. It can't increase the engines performance as an air pump.
You probably won't need to run your car at 15,000 ft, -40 degrees, or on 85 octane fuel, so there are gains to be had, especially in terms of drivability, but beware of claims of large gains in outright power!

Agreed, I think an extra 1.5 bhp is certainly achievable.

I've no idea if he does chips for the M40, but the 'zone chips' are produced by fellow team member, Ant. Try contacting him.
