Just been given a 325i Auto 1988 4 dr. Car is clean as a whistle but it has a problem with fuelling (not sure what though - will look into it).

How easy would it be to transfer the lump etc into my 1989 318i ??

I'm guessing I'll need to go and get a manual 325 g/box ??

Do you need to swap the loom / ECU etc ??

Any help would be sound...

Mike

The only loom you have to change is the engine loom, which stays attached to the engine, goes in with the engine and plugs in at the C101 socket.
You'll find minor problems with the swap, like no fixings for the 325 coolant header tank, and the wrong bracket for the air filter, and it would be a good idea to swap over the brakes and front suspension as well.

Does the 318i have vented front discs? if not take them from the 325i, change the rear drums though! never done it myself, but probably easier to swap over the complete rear suspension arms etc in one go.

As i'm sure you are aware changing the engine / gearbox / suspension / brakes etc is not a job to be rushed in a weekend...

Sounds like a big job.. Probably sell both in that case and just buy a 325
