Hey People!

Hope you all had a great xmas!

My heater fans have started to make a loud growling noise - like something is getting stuck in there. I don't think its the bearings as sometimes its quiet. But if i go over a bump the noise kicks in again.

Sods law that it happens now - i cant keep the heater on because you get a smell of burning like it's rubbing against something thats causing the noise.

Q. Can i get to the fans via the panel in the picture? and if so how much of what's on top has to come off?

My Haynes doesn't describe what i have so i'm just making sure. The car has to be on the road to get to the hospital quickly so can you give me a rough idea of how long it should take to get in there and sort it out?

Much appreciated

Jason

Fan is behind that panel, and is held in place by four 7mm self tappers.
Remove these remove the nuts that hold the cable support tray in place, undo the clip for the C101 engine loom plug and socket, pull off the bonnet rear seal, and lift the panel out.
Car can be run with the panel missing, bet the heater output may be a bit smelly.

Right, i did manage to get into the fans today - top description above, spot on, thanks again! - The clip holding the motor was easy to get off too. I gave the motor a good clean etc and the noise was definitely better and the fan is usable. However, i'm still getting a little knocking noise. I think this is because there is play on the right fan maybe i'll have to replace the unit at some point. any ideas?

You've got to love the engineering, one panel, one clip and the whole unit is out!! Great stuff!

How much did you pay for a new unit?
