How much of a mission is it to change the wings?? Also does anyone know a good source for wings and a bonnet?

wings are Ԛ£20 quid each from gsf and take about twenty minutes to remove a side, if you have a non sport model. there are about 7 or 8 10mm bolts running parallel with the wing inside the bonet. there is 2 screws inside the arch holding the wing to the car. and lastly there is a 10mm bolt holding the front of the wing to the front valence, the bumper has to be removed to get to this iirc. remember to remove your side repeater and all mud guards from inside your arch.

as for a bonnet i have a 2nd hand one in dolphin grey no dents or rust and still has the sound deadning underneath. pm me if you want it. i also have 2 dolphin grey arches but for the money you may aswell get new ones

Fit the wings with proper panel sealant between mating surfaces, or they will rust out in no time.
There are two small counersunk bolts with female hex heads at the front as well.

Are the GSF wings any good? anyone fitted one? Do they line up and fit OK and are they thinner, more prone to rust than the genuine BMW ones?

Haven't looked up their catalogue, but I expect GSF wings are pattern parts. Similar panels can be obtained from any good motor factors.
They will be less accurately made than genuine wings, and may be thinner steel, but how quickly they rust depends on how well they are painted, on on the use of panel sealant as I said above.

I've a GSF wing fitted and i can't wait to replace it with an OEM wing, sounds different to the rest of the car when you give it a tap and it doesn't line up 100%:!:

Going to be having my new wing sprayed and fitted in the next few weeks. It's a brand new from the dealers, will this still need this panel sealant(not heard of this before), do you think i should ask the bloke at the body shop to use it(if they don't use it anyway)?

Tried ordering a wing from ECP and GSF recently and both told me they couldn't get them, only did genuine wings at about Ԛ£50 more than the dealers!! 8O
