I failed bloody emission test today...
not quite sure where is the problem, cause car runs great and pulls like a train
HC bad at idle 0.3 is good, mine is 0.6%
CO bad at idle 0.5 is good, mine is 0.8%

any ideas what to check?

First I would check that its idling properly.

Does the throttle butterfly close as it should or is the car "idling" with a partly open throttle (a common bodge on cars with idle problems, like mine 8O ).
These are sensations as hard to forget as they are to ignore.....

Do you employ a piano tuner for one of those then?

idles perfectly at 700rpm, once had an idle problem and my bmw service done the job, something about TPS was wrong, now works great.
Last month I changed: air filter, fuel filter, sparks, oil and valve adjustment

Sounds like its just the adjuster screw on the AFM that needs setting then. Unless its running rich at idle.....
