2.7 ETA CONVERSION?

I 'm sure its on here some were, but is there a 2.7 eta guide, ie what bits to use / options etc.

i 've got a 88 eta 2.7 LUMP, 90k i used it 4 a few months and done comp and leak down tests on it , all pasted v good figs

its to replace a 91 320, but which head/ cam / inlet manifold etc should i use 320 or 325, any other bits , ie bbtb, etc , was planing to just swap 320 head complete as removed , and the sump / flywheel ( as it s auto ) over and get a zone chip , and swop over all the pick ups / sensors as the motronics a dif version to my caddy. , will the 320 box be ok or should i find a 325 as it the time to do it?
i assume , it may be easier to drop the engine / box ,/ suspension out the bottom complete , any tips ?

one solid way of doing it is:

325i/e block decked with 325 head (885 casting), 323 conrods, 525e crank, early 325i pistons with skirts machined to clear crank webs!

vernier pulley to adjust timing required due to decking of block

u can do it the 320 head way as u said but the 320 head ports are small as is the whole inlet side on the engine.... u will get a good 190bhp but for a real stormer of a 2.7 ie 200bhp plus u need a 325 head

eventually a cam, bbtb, and chipping will be required to make good power!

I've heard of this super ETA. Does this mean that the works already been done for us and all we have to do is bolt a 325i head on and there we have a 2.7 200bhp monster!

I'm sure it is. I know you get them in the 325e (american model) and the very late 525e's i think.

i wish it was that simple, there are a few things that need to be done, that is why i put my ETA project on hold.

super ETA is tuned to have slightly more horsepower, well to be exact its 6 Bhp over the normal ETA. if you want to know more about the Eta conversion then go to this site

If you look at the parts required for the actual 2.7 bit (crankshaft and conrods, 325i pistons, 325i head) and the machine-work (block and pistons) its quite simple and cheap but unfortunately you can't stop there or it'll just go bang.

I meant there is more chance of SOMETHING to happen within a few thousand miles.

What's the point in doing interal work and not replacing/reconditioning everything else? Especially if it's all stripped down, eg bearings.

Edit: That website made a very good read at work today, glad I didn't see it before hand and influence a few decisions. Very informative for sure!

Oh right I just assumed you were talking about replacing all that stuff too (rings and bearings) - it's just bad practice no to. Still can work out quite cheap though.
