my temperature gauge has a habbit of flicking around the place and reading incorrect temperature, a good thwack on the dash or a tapping of the gauge itself seeems to set it right temporarily. any ideas guys what the problem is and how it can be sorted?

There was another thread that mentioned the bolt on the back coming loose that was the cause.

any other suggestions, i heard that the saulder on the connections behind clocks can dry up and cause hassle? is it really that hard to tighten that nut? a dodgy temp gauge is asking for trouble!
