Just a quick question!
Would a six speed gearbox fit a 3.5 m30 engine??

what six speed box do you mean?
the e36 m3 evo box is a different bolt pattern
i guess the 850csi/540i manual box is the same as the m3 box,maybe a different bolt pattern but i doubt it will fit an m30
in any case you don't need one. my 335 has effectively 4 gears (the 30mph 1st is useless, there's easily enough pull to start in 2nd, even on hills, without slipping the clutch at all) and goes like a train in all of them

I asked a similer question regarding the M20 a while back and got a few responces that i've now forggoten but realised that no one mentioned changing the bell housing.
As this is not actually part of the gearbox, can they be interchanged as well ?
