I have changed my rear drums to discs. I bought new hand brake cables. However I cannot see how they are held in place to stop them colliding with driveshafts etc.

Does anyone have any pics of their handbrake cables so I can see how they are held in place?

Cheers

Thet fit into clips on the suspension arms, but they shouldn't come any where near the driveshafts if they're not in the (often broken) clips.

Unless I'm being thick I cannot see any clips?

Can someone please show me where these clips are supposed to be and what they look like!

Many thanks

I wrote an article on the conversion last year, Here's a pic:

The white clips are attached to the anti-roll bar mountings on each trailing arm and are notoriously brittle.

Hi Daz, not bad mate. Got the braided hoses done, finished about 8.50pm that night !.

To get the hoses that run over the subframe I cracked them loose with spanners then cut the rubber off leaving the crimp end then used a deep 14mm socket to unscrew it. Much easier than fiddling with 1/16 turn at a time with spanners !.

Feels much better, need some ATE superblue for the trip to the 'ring 8)

Glad the manifold is ok for you :D

Back on topic

Does anyone have a part number for the little brittle white things then. As my trailing arms didn't have them fitted.

Please help!!

The ETK shows the following part numbers :

Bracket : 34 41 1 153 880

Tubing support : 34 41 1 154 158

You'll need 2 of each.

The bracket acts as a washer between the anti-roll bar bracket and the drop link bolt.

Need to buy some replacements myself as one is held on with a cable tie :? not sure the MOT man will be too happy about that.

Cheers,

It's just the retaining part of the clip that breaks normaly.
The use of a correctly sized cable tie to retain the cable in the cradle of the clip is perfectly acceptable.
