i am assuming that these are standard on a 325i se, H plate
how do i get these to activate as when i press my alarm fob key the doors lock but the deadlocks don't
i have tested by leaving a window open and putting the alarm on, then open the door, the alarm comes on but the doors shouldn't open !!!

Why are they a must if you have an alarm ?
Check some of the previous threads on how to fix them because i think Brianmoor will go mad if he has to explain it again.

Are you turning the key far enough to engage the dead locks ?Brenner5 wrote:i have tried locking the car with the key and left a window open and still the car doors open...
You need to turn the key 90 degrees anti clockwise and remove the key in that position to engage the deadlocks. Simply turning it to the 11 o'clock position will lock it, but not deadlock it.
Cheers,
Ian.

just checked now..
when i lock it at 90 degrees, only the drivers door opens, the other doors cant be opened from inside..
so the deadlocks do work apart from the drivers door.
when i use the key fob, the doors lock but not deadlocked.
is it normal that the drivers door can be opened whilst i am inside the car (while in deadlocks) or is that one not working??

I don't believe it's possible to have remote deadlocks on an E30 (not using the standard setup anyhow).Brenner5 wrote:just checked now..

I would need to check to be sure, but I would not expect you to be able to open the drivers door from the inside if deadlocked. It sounds like you have some sort of mechanical problem with the drivers door lock (it's a purely mechanical job on the drivers door).

it does seem a bit silly if the drivers door can be opened while in deadlocks
i will play about a bit more tomorrow and if the drivers door don't stay locked i will change the mechanism and see how it goes
thanks for the quick and helpful replies
