Could someone enlighten me on the difference between all the ratios used by the e30 please.
What advantages and disadvantages?
Cheers,
Jon

Have a look at this for the E30 dif ratio's mate.

http://www.behindmatrix.com/e30/fotost/ ... f00023.htm

Then tell us which E30 you have and which way you want to go with the gearing and some one should be able to sudgest a suitable ratio.

I have a 318i M40 engine, viper 2 chip, power boost valve,k&n panel filter and stainless exhaust.
I know most of u will say don't bother with this engine but its for my own experience to be honest. I want better accelleration as i am not happy gettin beat by a poxy 1.8i ghia onion, full up with mugs!!
I'm gonna put a cam in but not happy my 1.8 can't beat a ford 1.8!! :hammer: :puke:

I'm also gonna put an lsd on it :burn:

Hi, I have a '90 318is which makes me grin every time i drive it. my diff went in december and the only diff i could get at the time was a 3.64. it seems to drive ok with it in there but im not sure its the right one for my engine? my car hits 102 mph in 3rd where before it would only do 80. also im still getting a whiney / droney noise from the diff area when the car is not under load ie when im braking or off the throttle, but if i put my foot on the clutch and brake hard the noise stops until i let off the brake pedal. ive been told it could be a wheel bearing or the prop bearing?? any ideas would be helpful
