this part was blocked off both ends with rubber thingys, its plugged into something with a connector. but it was just cable tied to the air hose.

anyone know what it should do.? after a little goole searching i found that it is a Vapor Canister Purge Valve after i found a model number on there.


anyone know?....my car doesnt start at the mo. could this cause it?

Just ignore it!

It's for a CAT if fitted, which in your case it isn't.

Will not have anything to do with non-starting...

It's part of the fuel vapour recirculation (emission control) system. The valve only opens when the vehicle is warm, and adds fuel vapour to the inlet manifold. I'm not sure but I think it's only on the cars with Cat's, so if you have a car (or engine) which has been de-catted that's why you still have all this gubbins.

Don't worry about it! It's only used om E30s fitted with all the emissions equipment. You also have a blanked off plug under the battery tray, and an unused relay socket beside the fuel punp and DME relays.
All late E30s are fitted with the loom for thisstuff, but your DME doesn't support them anyway.
