Hello,

My 1987 316 's engine suddenly stopped turning , i could start it again , but lots of black smoke came out , so i found out the choke valve was jammed again. Once i fixed that the engine turned again without smoke , but now when i press the gas pedal too hard the engine stalls , anyone knows what the problem could be ?

also when cold , the engine doesnt start well.

Thanks

Zigmund.

Most of a carbed M10's troubles will be centred around the carb, if it's the original electronically controlled one. The standard cure is to fit a Weber replacement kit with a manual choke, which eliminates all the electronic bits.

its the original carb , a 2BE carb. Is this weber carb easy to get ? and is it expensive ?

when the engine was warm , i jammed the choke valve when it was open with a screwdriver, so it would stay completely open. Than i started to push the gas pedal, still the engine stalls when pushing too hard...

I had one of these on my old E30,ditch the original carb and get a Weber,it will transform the drive,a few more BHP and a more responsive throttle.

Well worth it in my opinion.
