I just did a search, and there isn't a SINGLE topic on the so called 'Hot Soak' procedure.

So im going to compile a how2 for you all. :D

The Ԛâ€ËaHot SoakÔš' is usually intended to clean the carbon deposits off of the valves and combustion chamber.
The left over cleaner can be put into the petrol tank, just before a fill up to clean the deposits off of the injectors.

The engine can't run on this stuff, as it's a hydrocarbon that is less explosive than gasoline.
It just soaks into all that accumulated crud and loosens it up, then it burns off when you restart the car.

Some of the main cleaners that I have been told about are below. (although I am unsure of availability in the UK).

1. Ventil Sauber.
2. Chevron Techron fuel system cleaner.
3. SeaFoam.
4. Penzoil total fuel system cleaner.

Procedure.

1. Drive you car until the engine is up to its normal operating temperature.

2. Decant your cleaning solution into a see through container (like a Tupperware container or soft drink bottle) so you can see how much is left.

3. With the engine running, disconnect the vacuum tube which runs from the fuel pressure regulator to the intake manifold. (picture below)

4. Stick the end of the hose into the bottle and let it start sucking the cleaner into the manifold. The car will attempt to stall so it is best to have someone sitting in the drivers seat pressing the accelerator to hold the rpmÔš's at around 2-3k as to ensure it doesnÔš't stall.

5. You'll start smoking about half way through the fluid or so.

6. Once the bottle is down to about 1/4 left, tell that person to take their foot off the pedal and you just keep the hose at the bottom of the bottle.

7. Your engine will sputter and die most likely when all the fluid is used up, if not, just turn off the ignition. If it doesnÔš't stop immediately, make it stall.

8. Reconnect the tube.

9. Let the car sit for at least one hour and then start it up again. It may take a few cranks and it will idle very badly at first, and you will see tons of white smoke coming out of the exhaust pipe. (you may want to wait until it gets dark, so not to scare your neighbours with exhaust smoke).

10. Once that smoke dies down a bit, take the car for drive. Drive it aggressively using variable RPMÔš's in different gears to ensure you have removed all the smoke.

11. You will NEED to change your oil as soon as you can after a hot soak. The chemicals break down the oil to a point where it can not perform its job anymore.

That's it. :D

You should notice an immediate improvement (especially in low end power)

But what if you have a cat fitted? Would this clog it up?

You can find the the vacuum pipe on the near side of the car, left hand side of the air intake on the inlet manifold you will see a small rubber pipe etc.

This all sounds very good but what happens when all that carbon that the vavles have seated them selves in has gone?
Your valves seales would normally start leaking as the valves are moving more freely in old rubber seales. Then you start using oil through ya valves, cam starts rattling cos there's no oil reaching it and the hydrolic lifters won't take the pressure.

Don't mean to burst your bubble but if you do it expect to recondition your head not far long after cleaning.

I'm no expert but that sounds like its strong stuff and a bit too trastic.
There are plenty of additives you can put in ya fuel tank that will help the car as i have done the same with mine.
The choice is yours!
