sup Guys..
Firstly im bumping a previous post regarding my passenger seat in that it doens trecline as far as the drivers side,is this the norm?..drivers side is fine but passenger side seems to fall short though i cant find any obvious problem with the seat....
Secondly...in the roof storage conpartment...there are a number of small holes, approx 8-10 man made holes but have been covered over with tape by probably the previos owner..what are these and are they surposed to be covered..?
I got an old door mat in there (from previous owner) which has got slightly wet in the past..and to protect the roof maybe..dunno..
there is a bit of surface rust which im going to remove tomorrow and treat with some anti-rust then give it a quick spray over to tidy it up..
Are these holes for drainage?..if so,id better remove the tape, why would he put tape there?....need some help please
By the way..its not the big holes approx30-40mm in dia which have rubber grommits in them..these are about 7-10mm MAX
Cheers

your holes may point to your car once having a electric roof and when they have packed up the motors have been removed which would explain lots of holes
design cab and now 325 touring-

If it was once electric then the roof storage would also be electric, does your car have a door handle thingie next to rear seat to open the roofcover? if so it probably wasn't electric. They are not drains however. best bet is to leave em alone if they dont bother you.
As for the seats, cab seats shouldn't recline because they would hit the extra cross member in fornt of the rear seat. chances are your driver seat has been replaced with a hardtop car seat.

K..thks guys..thought my seat was farked!
yea i have a handle for the roof cover so im guessing it wasnt electric,
as for the holes i dont know what they are and why their there..they wouldnt be for motors as there is the wrong places..som of these holes are
in the centre section of the roof storage space..
if it were motor related then im sure the motors would be more towards the sides/hinges?
Cheers

Probably in that case some aftermarket bits (CD changer, amp etc) if your really bothered fill em and touch up with paint.
Bin the carpet as it is likely that is holding moisture, the drains are deep deep down at the side of this roof space anyway, if your roof is folded properly no need for carpet.

well, ive un-taped these holes, lifted the carpet with that shi*%y filthy sticky crap on the bottom, manged to clean it off with,Engine cleaner/de-greaser..masked everything up and sprayed the whole conpartment..
looks like new, very happy with it,wish id took some picx now to show yer,
once that was done,i put some magazine paper down first to wear that carpet was sitting as the carpet was fine, just underneath was dirty due to age, cleaned that,re-laid carpet than manged to have some Laminate flooring underlay spare ( the thin foam stuff ),so i laid a bit of that down to tidy it up..
Ive got a canvas roof which is very nice to clean, might not look as good but its a lot easier to clean..i used warm water with a touch of Washing powder (non-bio) and a toothbrush over the seams...come up like a treat
now i got a very clean roof and a nice home for it to sit

two of the holes towards the centre back might be for the bowden cables in the electric roof. I have just reproofed my roof with some stuff called Fabseal from the local camping shop..it comes in a spray can a does work Ԛ£5.50

the 'carpet' and plastic sheet underneath are OE
the carpet is quite thin, rectangular with long but shallow indentations along one edge which line up with the solid plastic section which 'joins' the seats to the rear bulkhead (the rear-screen demister also sits in this solid plastic section) - difficult to explain!
the plastic sheet is exactly the same shape as the carpet, and both are stuck to the car in an-L-shape
I believe it is to stop any chance of rubbing of the rear plastic window against the metal bulkhead behind the rear seats
if you watch the hood go in you will see what I mean
I can't see any smaller holes in mine, so as mentioned probably for a disc-changer

Middle East crisis...
Sheffield launches counter-attack.... millions killed....
you might both be right; I've had a face-lift electric motor cab, and currently have a pre-facelift manual hood cab
the pre-facelift doesn't seem to have the holes where the electric motor of the later model attaches - so BMW might have done all kinds of things at facelift time................
Crisis abates - bombers recalled?

Need the yanks to step in on this one to prevent a holy30 war!!!
My post facelift is a manual roof and has no extra holes except the 5/6 3cm holes so the electric panel and the manual panel must be different. the carpet is OE and should be stuck down, i assumed form the original post he had an extra floor mat in there!
