Altenators are difficult to kill.
Does the ignition warning light work OK?
Before you remove the apparently dead one, check the DC resistance between the body of the altenator and the battery negative terminal.
Had a customer once, who had replaced the extremely heavy duty battery and altenator on a large agricultural tractor ( and dropped and smashed the old battery), and was still having problems. At that point I was called in, and soon found that the altenator mounting bracket, although all it's bolts were tight and undisturbed, was not making electrical contact to the engine block.

does the blue wire need to be connected to make the alternator work? - or is this just the battery warning light?

All positive wires are fine and the alternator is earthing....

May need that alternator mate, when could we come and get it?

The blue wire does need to be connected i think.

I'm home tomorrow morning between 10-11 though there should be some one in all day.

I feel really sorry 4 him i really got my fingers crossed that it all gonna b ok he gonna sort it out. I really 4t it was sorted today and was so relieved i really want him to have a good time!

What does he need for the ring?

I think i sorted most things he came bk last night from working away got all his clothes washed etc.

I have packed his bag to go
sorted out his insurance and aa cover for abroad
brought him map of europe
Printed off directions and where peti stations n cash points are
sorted out ferry details

driving linence
mot
log book

ive gota get tent out of loft will do that in morning little un in bed and it a mission he taking the 9 man lol

Also I have been down to day got him 2 new tyres and had car tracked

I forgot about insurance and e111 form how much this cost i really skint now lol! but i will get it tomorrow even thop karl will say not to bother! But he got Tales to think about. But i have good faith it wont be needed!!!!

What else does he need to take is there certain things he needs?

He can take my warning triangle out of my bm.
Helmet? Can get that out of my garage in the morning
Wat else?

I really want to get it all sorted for him so he has nothing to worry about, and want him to have a wicked time. I have been running round like a headless chicken with this car! If it comes to it i told him to take my sport or even my e36 but hope it doesnt come to that. But if it means he will relax then i would.

Still having trouble with the altenator no1 knows!! Tried every1s ideas. It gota b sorted it just has to be!!!
