Bit of a weird one this... I have a 1988 325I Se.. and whilst running I am getting exhaust fumes in the car really strong but only when the windows are open. If the windows are closed and its just the heater/air blowing in its as frsh as a daisy - no fumes at all... but as soon as i open the window and im moving along i start poisoning myself!

Anyone ever experienced this?

are they definately exhaust fumes ?, i had exactly this with a fuel type smell, turned out that the seal around the fuel pump had perished and the open window was moving the air around in the car enough to stir up the fumes....
