idle speed

My 320i won't idle below 1000 and there's a distinct lack of power, changed the rotor arm ,cap good no pitting, plugs replaced, cleaned all the electrical contacts i could find but still no luck , the car has been off the road for 2 years and the fault wasn't there then , just goes to show if you're going to store a car do it properly, Any advice gratefully received

I was having idle problems with ages, then my dad (a mechanic) had a look and managed to adjust the tickover by adjusting sotmhing near the throttle cable i think, it now sits lot better. Hopefully someone can elaborate on this?

Idle Can be adjusted,not the best way to do it..

Im no expert but could this not be ECU related or Fuel/Air valve regulators?

As for Power and with the things youve siad you have already done i would say Valve Clearence could be to blame..i had it on mine..

Cheers , i've replaced the coolant temp sensor and afm from my other 320 which seems to have given a much needed boost to the power band ( revs a lot more freely) and drives with no flat spot but the revs are still a bit high so the search continues
