Is my power steering broken or is it supposed to be heavy?

I just got my new 530 and after driving that i realised what power steering can feel like, manuvering with one finger, so i was wondering is that what my e30 should feel like? Becuase it takes a fair amount of force to the steer that thing. I've only ever driven one e30 so i have no idea what it should feel like. Has anyone driven an e30 and an e34 how do they compare?

Mine isn't heavy (1989 325), but you couldn't quite turn the wheel with one finger...
