Hi

i need to replace the exhaust mainfold gaskets, as the heat sheilds that are attached have started to break up.

Any advice on removing the manifold, is it best when the engine is warm / cold i presume loads of WD40 helps.

Also will i need to replace anything else while it is off e.g. studs that hold it in place.

And are the nuts nyloc or normal?

Thanks

The nuts are copper if they're the proper ones.

I'd work on one at a time and once it's started to come undone, do it back up and move onto the next one.

Once they're all in a state where they've moved you can go around and progressively undo them all.

engine hot as you like also plenty of WD40 days, weeks, years before you start.

Get some new studs and nuts not expensive and give the studs a bit of copper grease before you fit them in.

The job will be lovely if you have to do it again sometime!

I found using something like http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/produ ... t-wobble-b helped. Either that or a ring spanner and scraped knuckles :)
