Got a 325i sport on a 86 d with the switchable auto box and lately she doesn't want to set of in 1st,sets of in 2nd and won't stop in 4th very long....keeps kicking down to 3rd.
Altering the switch seems to do nothing but it did used too. Got a new gear box filter/sieve and will get oil change this week. am i wasting my time or will this help? :?

reckon you can't go wrong with a fluid & filter change, if it still persists then yeah you may have other problems at which point it would probably be cheaper to get a known good box from a breaker.

It probably is just manky old fluid which will be stopping the valve body in the box from doing it's stuff
