Tried looking through past threads but I can't find anything similar to my problem which I'm sure must be a simple fix.

The central locking on the O/S/R door on my Touring has started intermittently playing up these last few days. When locking and unlocking the car from the driver's door all door locks work fine apart from the aforementioned door lock which can't decide if it's going to work one day to the next. Generally lately it prefers to not work rather than work.

The problem is obviously localised in the CL in the O/S/R door as the others work fine. What's involved? Does something just need a good cleaning or is it showing signs of eventual total failure?

What's involved in getting to the problem area and cleaning/replacing if necessary? Never had an E30 door card off yet so want to be prepared.

Bumped!

Is there anything I can do to stop my rear central locking on this door from sticking? Sometimes it works out of the blue then it packs up again so it's still getting power to it.

This is one I haven't seen before! There are no plugs and sockets involved with dubious reputations, and the rear door locking is normally 100% reliable, if the other locks work.
Best I can suggest is that the plug may not be fully pushed in at the locking motor. Failing that, try a fresh lock motor. Easy to change on early tourings.

Thanks for that Brian. Can I fit the lock motor off any four door E30 or will it be specific to the Touring?

Heh, the one I've just bought has the exact same problem on the same door.
