back left locking up

hi,was driving my car and it starting squeling from the back then the back left wheel locked up.put in reverse it was fine,then went to go forward and it was still locked.manged to get it free then it happened again,just wondering if anyone has got any ideas on whats causing it?have checked all the brake system and all seems fine.cheers

diff output bearings? i've not seen an output one go myself but i've seen a few input bearings fail this way.

jack the car up, remove the bolts from the driveshaft on the suspect side and see if it turns.

broken handbrake shoe pins? i had it happen on my 318is
