Problems with my Gearbox

I have a problem with the gearbox on my 325i "87" model not the sport, the problem is as follows, i have recently had some trouble with the clutch, turning out to be the clutch slave cylinder. so i replaced that and now the clutch is working really smoothly which is great but now im having major trouble in selecting reverse gear, all the other gears are fine, First gear is gr8, 2nd 3rd 4th the same 5th is iffy but does go in with a slight clunk, but REVERSE is impossible to select. ive tried looking for blockages and dirt an their aint nout. PLEASE help me having the girl off the road is a right b*tch..............?

do all the gears select with the engine not running?

Cant select reverse at all, even with the engine stopped.

when the engine is running if you go straight into fifth without first going into the othe gears, it will graunch. but if you firsly go through the other gears it will then be ok.

i have a gearbox you can have for 25quid

Tried even with gearbox oil warmed up and then switched off again no joy whatsoever, nomatter how hard i try, Is there anything else i can try before i resort to a new box??


On a lighter note, is your box in good cond?? can u select reverse with it?? and how many miles has it covered??

if all in well, with the selector linkage then the selector and syncro inside must have gone. not much you can do other than rebuild the box or replace it

i have 2 gearboxes both low mileage and good nick

well i aint gonna haggle over Ԛ£25 il take the better one, any preferance in payment method? bit of a shame though, how far are you from me?? i live in Carmarthen, South Wales?? any idea of postage or mileage, (might pop up myself)

i used to live in Swansea mate, know all that area pretty well.

2 and half hour drive for me to get to swansea.
