Problem with sport callipers.....

I got some sport callipers the other week, to put on the front of my 318 when i stick my other engine in.And i just noticed somthing. Ive spent ages cleaning them up, and spraying them. But i went to put the two parts of the calliper together and they dont seem to fit.

Now they have been used before, as i got them off a fellow zoner.But it seems like the smaller part dosnt want to slide onto the main part of the calliper.

The two notches sticking out, that are meant to slide in the groves on the small part seems to be the problem. Ones tiny and fits right in the grove, but the other is massive and wont allow it to slide on. I tried mixing the 2 parts up,thinking maybe i didnt have both the right parts for each side,but its the same.

Anyone got any ideas? Am i just stupid?

No mate i dont. My cameras shagged!. Not sure how well i explained it.Basicallyi dont know much about brakes, so lets say, the large part (the bit that has the bleed nipple on and large flat back is part one, and the smaller part that slides on is part 2.

Basically on 2 there are the two sluts either side for it to slide onto 1, yet it dosnt. One side of 1 has a small notch, the other is too big. Not sure if its fcuked, bet,or just me.But i cant see a way around it. Ill try and sort some kind of picture out.

I assume that these brake parts are meant to slide off and on without too much trouble?

Could mate.Although im not actually fitting the brakes up or anything! Was just bored so i started trying to put them togther, to see how they look painted, but then realised they dont go together lol.

Ill speak with Dan and see if he had any probs when he had them. Its almost as if one of the sides that should slide over the notch has been bent in,so that it wont fit. Not sure tbh! lol

Dont supose anyone has a couple of pictures of the calipers put together, mainly from the front, think i might have just won the spastic of the year award......if not these aint right lol.

I think you are trying to get the two caliper parts to sort of slot together, but I don't believe they do (as such). I suspect it will all become clear if you try fitting a set of pads in there as well.

The only place that the caliper slides, is on the smooth guide pins. Without pads, there will be a reasonable gap between the two parts of the caliper.

Cheers guys.I think i know how they fit together now. One of the sides runs along the grove, and the other side just runs along the side of the caliper, or at least, this is what seems to work for me. I havnt had chance to fit them, or look at my exsisting breaks yet.But was wondering, are they two parts meant to be able to slide back and forward? I havnt got the 2 bolts for each caliper to hold both parts together, but are they meant to be able to slide in and out, or do the bolts hold them together anyway?

I ask as these are propper stiff, not that clued up on how the brakes work, so im not sure if the two parts need to slide/move
