Im in need of a switched live, that is live at Acc, Run and Start postions.

I was looking at the ignition switch wiring in the Haynes manual, but cant figure out if one of those will be live when I needed it.
I keep looking at the Violet wire coming off the Acc position, but something keeps telling me that its not live in the Start position.

Can someone please help

I would but, the meter I was using has been taken home by my mate, plus I cant turn the ignition to the Start position cause I dont want the engine turning over yet - its still missing a few bits.

Not checked it out in practice, but my wiring diagrams show the violet wire as remaining live with the key at start.
Are you confusing this with the two load shedding relays, K5 and K7, which disconnect certain circuits when the starter is engaged?
Most electrical testing on cars is best done with a 12V 5W lamp on a couple of short pieces of wire, rather than a meter, which doesn't load the circuit under test.

Thats what I was hoping.

Probably. I know that some things turn off when the car is started, but I havent driven it for so long that I cant remember what does and doesnt. And I cant start it yet to check

I was fairly sure that the Violet wire would still be live at start, but like you said, was probably just confusing myself.
Thanks Brian :thumb:
