according to bentley if you do them warm engine then 0.30mm above 80C so 0.05mm. ive never measured myself as i dont like burning myself or looked for any TIS info for BMW comments.Brdjo wrote:thanks for clearing things up, so hot/cold clarens is different in 0.05mm...
when i was gaping valve back from 0.23mm to 0.25mmi found that on 4 valves i could put a 0.25 feeler gauge.. so something went loose or bad gaping at first place...
the head wont cool that fast but the valves will especially on the exhaust side so you'd need to start the engine and put some more heat into it every now and then to do it properly and consistent across the board IMO if doing it hot. i suppose you could run the engine with valve cover on loose to avoid oil splashing around .
