My Hottuning manifold, one of the first UK one's,had a sleeve fitting on one pipe and an olive type fitting on the other, from what the OP is posting,H/T have modified their product....

As Gooner posted earlier, this manifold was/should be/is a straight swap for the stock mani and downpipes of a three piece system.I think that some have successfully modded a two piece system to suit, but without a lift to work on this will not be easy.

Be careful of ECP rear boxes, IIRC they have not listed a OE quality rear box for quite a while and their 'alternative' quality rear boxes are very alternative ! :( As in the fit is REALLY crap and the tailpipes are randomly attached and about 20mm in diameter :( :(

Still dithering over this, but it seems the easiest option would be to cut my existing down-pipes and mate them to the 6 branch manifold and not use the X pipe. Question is, is the X pipe essential or will it be ok without it?

The general consensus is that an X pipe is desireable and deleting will cost power and torque. Something to do with equalising exhaust pulses, innit :)
