You can fit complete E30 tie/track rod ends to the 46 rack. The stock E30 uses locking tabs onto the rack, but they won't fit the E46 rack. RealOEM shows no locking tabs at all on the 46 so it must just do without....
Make sure you don't reuse your old tie/track rods - replacing them alone will massively improve steering feel!

That's good then I'll do that as I've just had a measure up e30 rod end are roughly 37mm dia e46 are about 39mm which may touch my disc as they are bloody close as they are 
All my ends on my e30 rack are all new anyway well only done 3k miles so still new ish ;)
