Hi Tim,
It's a 53 plate with 3.0 V6 duratec engine automatic
I'd like all the fluids changed (engine oil, gearbox, diff and brake)
Thank you

Hi Stefan
My data lists a 5w-30 for that as it requires a Ford 913A, 913B or 913C spec oil (all of those are 5w-30s, as far as I am aware, the only 5w-20s that Ford recommends are for either small and revvy or V8 petrols).

http://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-698-wss-m2c-913-b.aspx
http://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-1251-wss-m2c-913-c.aspx
They are all fine for normal use.
This is the only one I have that is approved for the auto gearbox (I don't have a manual listed).

The transfer box takes a 75w-140 oil and the Castrol Syntrax Limited Slip, Gulf Gear LS, Red Line 75w-140 GL5, Fuchs Sintopoid LS, Motul Gear Competition, Millers CRX NT and Gulf Syngear are good options.

The diffs need a 75w-90 GL5 oil.
http://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-673-75w-90- ... fluid.aspx
The Fuchs Syn 5, Millers CRX, Redline 75w-90 GL5, Motul Gear 300 and Gulf Competition are ideal for the diff. The Fuchs Sintopoid, Castrol Syntrax Longlife, Millers TRX, Motul Motylgear, Mobil SHC and Gulf Syngear are also good choices.
Cheers

For the automatic gearbox Ford recommends "Mercon" oil... What's the best substitute?
And for the diff on haynes says 80w-90? Does it make a massive difference?
Thanks again
Stefan

Hi Stefan
Here are the Mercon oils that we have.
http://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-701-mercon.aspx
A 75w-90 is an upgrade over the 80w-90, but we have a couple of suitable 80w-90s, like the Fuchs Hyp 90, Gulf Gear LS, Castrol EPX and Millers 80w-90 GL5

I have an e30 with a 2.9 stroked m20.
Forged pistons, new rods 5000K miles since build.
Its 440 hp and will be a track car with occasional road use.
It will get driven.
Its full of 5w 30 which seems to be too thin. There is oil mist in a few places and although I'm installing some vacuum kit to help with a y crankcase pressure, i want to change the oil to a thicker grade.
Is vr1 20/50 still good or a Millers CSF 10/50?
What do you recommend today?
Regards David

get an oil temp sensor and pressure sensor, that will tell you the correct viscosity.
id guess and say 10W-40 in winter and 10w-50 in summer as thats what ive concluded with my gauges
i would never use a 20W-50 in an m20 i cared about its way too thick when oil is cold so the flow will be reduced and most wear occurs during warmup

Hi
I'd use a 10w-50 all year round as it's mainly a track car.
http://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-659-10w-50.aspx
The Nanodrive CFS is, on paper, the best oil available, but the Pro S, Red Line and CFS are really good oils, so all are good choices for your car.
Cheers
