OK, so I fitted my OBC today and it all works. But the problem I have is that I can't see the LCD screen unless I'm right up close to it. Now I swapped the bulb out with one of the bulbs from the instrument dials thinking that it might be a dull bulb but it's still the same. Any other ideas as to what it could be? Possibly the screen being worn out?
Thanks
Richard

Wrong bulb! That's just the one that lights up the buttons at night.
The light that has failed is the white 'light bar' that slides out sideways at the back of the OBC.
Two problems: The OBC has to be removed from the panel to slide it out, and the bar is about £23 from BMW!!
It can be repaired easily enough though. It has two small wire ended bulbs on it, which must be changed as a pair. Bulbs are about 35p each (IIRC) from www.cpc.co.uk

Well, if you're coming from Jap cars, then you'll find BMW dealer prices extremely cheap.
We have our own tame dealer on here, in the shape of zimmerbimmer1 in his genuine BMW parts forum.
Genuine discounted parts, delivered to your door.

I replaced them with LEDS and a resistor from maplin, should go on forever at a cost of about £1.65 worked a treat but u have to be handy with a soldering iron and a file to make the resitor fit.
