I've got a 91 318is, lately the car doesn't warm up properly. The temp gauge only goes to just over the blue, i know the weather is cold this time of year but this cant be normal????
Also i'm using more petrol than ever before, could this be because of the emisions being bad or what???
318is too cold????

Both, when driving or sitting in traffic it doesn't seem to warm up enough, although the car is running perfect otherwise....
Would it be the thermostat or somethin?????

Does this explain the car not warming up or is it just a separate problem ya????Chris-W wrote:Resistor for your heater fan has failed.Shane325i_sport wrote:settings 1,2,3 on the heater dont work but setting 4 does work....
Yeah, you've got 2 issues:
1st you've to change the thermostat, it's stuck open. The ECU reads the engine is cold and enrich the mixture, and that's why your car has poor fuel consumption.
2nd you've to change resistor. Not a big deal, honestly. Mine is like yours since I bought the car. I have one spare and didnt bother to change it yet!
