Aright guys just picked up my 325i sport just wondering where the diagnostic plug is so i can put out my service light.

Also the CHECK light on the dash is flashing, when i brake and just about come to a slow stop i can hear the ABS pump buzzing just wondering if it's anything to do with it bearing in mind it has been sitting about for 8 months.

I'm a Mechanic for ford so all this BMW stuff is new to me

Just to jump on the thread a bit:

If you do yer own servicing and use the tool to reset yer Service lights..Does it stop em completely so they never work or does it do what it 'says on the label' and reset it till next service due?

Don't waste your money on a reset tool. A short piece of wire does the job just as well. You won't damage anything as long as you carefully identify the correct pin ( number 7 ) in the diagnostin socket.

And what should one do once one has located the aformentioned pin 7?

Short it to the car body, switch the ignition on, wait for the lights to go out, switch off ignition, remove wire, replace cap.

I think your abs problem is something to do with the car sitting for a while. My track car does that all the time - for the first session on track the abs light stays on meaning no abs and the pump buzzes just as the car is coming to a halt but after the ignition is switched off and then the engine is restarted the fault disappears. E30's are good at electrics playing up if they have been idle for a while. Try driving it for a day or two and see if things improve.
