Hi Adam,

There are only two bolts either side below the A pillars which secure the dash but alot of other stuff needs to come out first if you want to take the dash out of the car (radio, heater panel, ecu, drop the glove box, center section, etc) There are also a lot of wiring looms secured to the dash so if this is the first time it has been out take it steadily and don't just yank if you feel resistance. Also methodically label everything you disconnect, this will make it so much easier at the putting back together stage. Hope this helps, it is achievable and once you have done it once it will be much easier in future.

Cheers

Matt

The wiring looms secured to the dash come out with the dash! Unplug the white multiplug in the front left corner of the glovebox. Release the heater controls, remove the instrument cluster, and very little other electrics have to be touched.

Brian, can you leave all the switches in the dash, if the wiring looms come out with the dash. or would it be easier to follow the guide as posted above by shedrool

Switches can be left in and so can the heater controls, just disconnect the cables from the panel

Guide starts going wrong on page 4. Wires can stay in the dash with the switches.
I'd also advise removing the windscreen side trims as well - spring clip pulls straight out near the top, and then lift upwards to unhook a clip near the bottom.

Thanks Brian and Dan, maybe its not that bad a job to do after all, i need to get the dash out to get at a couple of bits that need welding up as in my previous post about welding, sooner get the job right first go than trying to skimp :D

Its not a hard job at all, the only struggle I had was getting the dash over the steering lock assembly. Mine was very tight on the A pillars, if it ever comes out again I will probably remove the steering lock first

as dan says, my advise is to cover the upper steering wheel cowel with ducttape to prevent scratching it (as i did  )

i also reccommend removeing the front seats, its a two min job and saves loads of hassle (plus its kind of cool sitting in the back seats, feels like an E30iL )

first time took me 3 hours in and out on my own, but easier with a mate
