hi,
i have two questions, (1) the cam pully on my m40 is adjustable severl deg left or right what is the corect position it should be in eather left middle or right. when the crank is at tdc. ? and (2) i had a diagnostic tune up this morning, and the guy told me that the fault codes are not being loged on the car, he purposly made a fault but it was not picked up by the ecu. what could be the problem there?. he was able to read real time like temp, timing, inject, ect ect. any feed back would be good thanks.

Cam pulley. With both the cam and the crank locked in the correct position, turn the cam pulley to tension the belt, so that when the tensioner is set to the correct tension the belt does not move in relation to the pulleys. After tensioning the belt, unlock the cam/crank,turn engine over by hand and recheck the timing. The important bit is the relationship between the cam and the crank, rather than the position of the pulley on the cam.Cannot help at all with part 2!!
