I was experiencing a humming on left hand corners so thought it likely to be the front wheel bearing. I changed this about 2 weeks ago but it appears that the humming is still present.
The humming still seems to come from the front drivers side as far as I can tell. Is there something else that could be causing this?

Is there any looseness when you go over lots of small ripples and bumps in the road? (Find some cobbles or similar if you can). If you get this, it's possible that the ball joint or top mount have wear in them and that is translating to a hum, or vibration, when driving normally.
If you can, jack it up and pull the leg around, see if there is play in the strut assembly, rather than just at the wheel. Also, calipers can make this type of noise if something isn't tight and finally, the wishbone bush where it meets the car is worth checking.
As an afterthought, does the noise disappear if you dip the clutch, does it go in sync with roadspeed or engine revs?
If roadspeed, check the propshaft centre bearing. If engine speed, check the engine mountings.
It could be any or none of the above but hopefully that will give you some format to start looking and maybe you will discover other faults that need attention anyway.

Thanks for the action plan! I'll have a go at this at the weekend hopefully.
The noise is relative to road speed and continues even if I dip the clutch.
I hope I don't discover too many other faults, I already have a long list of faults that I need to fix. But the beauty of the car is that it is still getting me around!

i replaced both my fronts a couple of months ago using the £25 ECP bearings only for them both to be mentioned as advisorys with slight wear in the mot 2 weeks later. replaced both with the more expensive parts option right away and had no more problems. unfortunately i couldnt get a refund on the duff ones as i had bought them several months prior to fitting and had lost the receipt
have you checked that your brake caliper isnt seized or sticking causing the pads to be rubbing slightly on the disc?
Both front tyres are just recently replaced and the noise was there before and after.
I changed just the one bearing on the drivers side as I was convinced that was where the problem was. It was the cheapo from ECP though but I've still got the receipt so will have to see if I can work something out.
I've just been out in the car and with the roads empty was able to do more experimenting and it definitely hums on left hand swings, even when going in a straight line whilst loading the right side up (swinging left to right).
I'll check the caliper. I think I remember the pads rubbing slightly whilst I was doing the wheel nuts up at the end of the job so perhaps it is that. I'll have to compare it to the otherside.

caliper won't be the problem, that'll rattle or grind
