Hi Brian
I have a G plate 320i Auto here that has been fine until this morning when it refuses to start or even fire properly.
The fuel pump is working fine as i have fuel both into and out of the rail.
I have a good healthy spark at the plugs.
Took number 1 plug out and even after a lot of cranking its near enough dry!
My guess is the injectors arn't firing for whatever reason?
Any help appreciated please as i want to move the turd off my drive :?
Cheers Spadge..

Check for ignition on power at the red/white wires on the injectors. If not present, then the chief suspects are the injector loom plug and socket (and under the lower rubber boot), and the DME relay.
Check the DME relay clicks as you unplug it and plug it in with the ignition on.

Hi Brian cheers for the reply.
I've just checked and the DME relay is clicking when you remove/insert it with the ignition on.
The red/white wires have 12v+ to them also.
Anything else :?

Well after exploring all avenue's and only finding a knackered 'non existant' carbob brush in the dizzy cap its now sorted :D I can't understand why 2 of the 6 plugs i tested had a great spark but i've changed the cap and rotor and its now running sweetly 8)
Thanks for the guidance fella's!

I honestly pulled plugs 1 and 4 out before removing that cap and they both had a very healthy spark!
And yes the plugs were dry at that point also so unless i entered the twilight zone this afternoon i must have disturbed something that made the injectors work again
Very strange i must admit :?

That cap just had to be the original! My old blue thing had it's first cap in 270+ thousand miles 2 months ago - still had the '89' date stamp. It started okay but had a horrible misfire under load. The KV's obviously weren't enough to get it going.
I trust you bought a genuine new cap from Victoria BMW then? winkeye

That cap actually had '87 stamped in it, so it was older than the car!

I of course put on one of my selection of used caps which in fairness did look barely used :D
As fugs said above the cap was older than the car

Stratstone are everywhere now - part of the Pendragon group who also own Evans Halshaw and others. The only company that won't deal with them is VAG, a resident of The Keynes for a long time . :D
