Hi.

My clutch is biting quite low. Probably a bit too low for my liking. Feel like I'm having to really streeeeeeeeeeeeeetch my size 12 boot. I'd say the bite is about an inch of the floor. Is that the norm?

I ask because it was an auto and has been converted to manual and have never driven an e30 manual before.

The clutch and slave are new from ECP. I'm on my second master, the first being a scrappy part that seemed to have a slight seal problem when being held on and the current one is again a second hand part but from a reliable source. I guess that could be fooked too - just my luck!

I've bleed the system twice, no leaks and have adjusted the eccentric bolt on the pedal to the highest setting (which helped a tiny bit of course).

Also, am I getting clutch drag when changing? I opted for a z3 1.9 short shift when doing the conversion. The gear change is now a tiny bit clunky and on occasions almost a bit grindy - which takes me back to the clutch bite height and thinking the clutch isn't fully releasing.

TIA.

You did fit the clutch friction plate the right way round ?

Where does your clutch bite? Is it similar to mine?

Mine bites about half way up the stroke, my previous saloon (RIP) used to bite lower down though and that was with the same engine/clutch I have in the Touring

Odd isn't it. :?

Just thinking, the only thing I haven't checked or replaced is the rubber hose to the slave. It could be expanding under the pressure if it's an old piece. I shall have a look.
