Whats the chances of this working..?

basicaly i have a spare m40 manual gearbox hanging around, in great condition, its off a 1.6, whats the chances of it fitting to my m42 engine?

just a cursoity question, i have a 4.45:1 diff and i like thhet short ratio ness, jsut wondered if this wud fit for an amusing drive?

I don't really know but I have a 4.27 diff on my IS and thats bad enough for high revs at low speed (or good enough depending on what mood I'm in) surely a 4.45 and a 1.6es gearbox would drive you mental?

i rarely do motorway miles, its a bit of a giggle though at the minute its jsut a curiosty question, untill i do it im just telling tall tales. i wanna take the box on there at the minutue off soon anyway to give it a clean and change clutch and thrust bearing

Believe the early iS used an M40 box so it should work.
