Hi would i be right in thinking both 520i & 525i (1988-1995) E34's use the same starter motor as my E30 320i
i only need the solenoid but this part is no longer available from euro car part's or any of my local motor factors! so i'll either have to pop in to my local breakers to see what they have and i'll also post in wanted section.

RANT!!
well .... 3rd time lucky, as they say!
twice i had to return to M-Tek in Glasgow, the BMW Breakers specialist ..
due to them twice giving me the wrong part
.. i gave up in total 6 hrs of my time to travel time
first they sold me a part that even though i said looked different .. they said it's fine "the buisness end is the same" .. got it home, stripped my starter out and .. WTF!! the one they sold me was double the size!
phoned them and .. "hrmm sorry sir, bring it back and we'll swap it"
second .. took back the first, swapped it over and i said .. ahh that looks more like it, have you tested it, to which they said "yes tried N tested .. works perfect" so of i went, fitted it and !!!
nothing .. well nothig except what sounded like either a seized motor or jammed? .. once i stripped out the 2nd replacement unit i counted the teeth
9 .. checked it again .. 9! E30 starter has 10 (might have been the other way round?)
so i phoned them "AGAIN" .. well to cut a long story short the 3rd one was the right one
funny thing .. when i finaly got the right starter motor the guy say's .. ahh this look's like the right motor
yeah .. but only after you cost me £25+ in fuel and took over 5 hrs of my time due to you making a mistake with the first 2 motors
£25 for the part .. £25 in fuel, another £17 and i could have bought a new re-con unit from my local motor factor
i think i was due a little rant
so good news is i can once again start my E30 without having to tap a metal pole against the starter solenoid
