I'm gonna do an engine oil change this weekend... It hasn't been done for a while, so would it be better to flush it through? If so, what should I use??

I have heard from reliable sources that paraffin based flushes can dislodge particles in the engine and clog oil ways etc. Your best bet is to do an oil change and then do another one in 1000 miles...

All IMO of course! :D

Change the oil 1000 miles, are you mad?

My dad changes his ever 3k. That's a very high maintenance engine mind.

Some people do 1000miles in a week...

No I don't think hes mad, read the post its in preference to using engine flush and IMHO opinion is a very good idea, since engine flush is a waste of time.

No where did he say change your oil EVERY 1000 miles!

And yes we all remember your dad has an M3.

dont some people warn against engine flushes especially in older engines? something to do with perishing any seals or something iirc?
mine always has new oil as it burns so much i have to put in upto a litre every 500 miles or so. im led to believe that this is normal on a cossie engine though :?
