might be a stupid question, but how come everytime i fire up the 325, the checklight flshes and the brake light warning light is on until i touch the brakes?

It's suppose to do that. It's waiting for you to hit the brakes in order to test the brake lights. Of they work, the warning goes out.

and FYi if the check light flashes at any other time such as when your washer fluid light is low or oil is low casueing the overhead panel to light the corresponding LED, you can cancel the flashing by pushing the check switch on the overhead cheak panel..... not everyone knows this and drives around with the thing flashing (including myself when i first got one)!!
