possibly a common item? although i am stumped ive tryed searching but to no avail, basically.. indicators work... left adn right no bulbs out nothing, but when i press the hazrd switch.. nothing.. nothing at all.. ive tryed a new switch too

not sure but i think there is a dedicated fuse for the hazards!! some one
will correct me in a min :D :D

nope fuse 24 is fine.. 15amp and not broken or nothing i replaced incae it was faulty and still nothing

In that case it's probably the hazard switch itself.
If this isn't the case check for power on the red/white wire at pin 3 of the switch with a 12V bulb, NOT a meter.
Next suspect is cowboy alarm fitters'. They often home in on this wire as a constant live power source for the alarm.

the car is stnadard as far as alarms are concerned.. repalaced teh hazard switch with a working hazard and still nothing when the hazard is in the on postion the indicators dont work.. obviously.

ill check at work tomrow for power as my cars now been driven off ( trade plates ) to my work place

the actual switch lights up when u stick teh lights on jsut not makeing hazadds work!!! its agtgrivating me now.. i may be going to the mk2 golf gti out back and rippping the WORKING switch from that.!! im not paying £35 form bmw for a stupid switch..!!

You don't need to! Just take it out, open it up (keep the buttons pointing upwards when you slide it apart), clean it, treat it to a little silicon grease, snap it back together, and put it back into the car.
Very rare to have to bin a BMW switch - only when a contact has been arcing badly and burnt away.
Have you checked for power on the red/white wire?

well found out what had happened, and to jsut make brians ego even larger:P( only joking mucker) it was down to a dodgey alarm install the wireing was a shambles rewired alot of the wires now works. cheers for your help
