ok first of all this info is second hand to me as its a mates 318is the problem is with winkeye

ok so its like the car runs out of fuel but the tank is full. its def not the pump as he has changed the pump twice now. and they are both 100% he can be driving along no prob and it just stops up it keeps turning over but no start. leave it for an hour or so and it starts again might run for 2 or 3 days fine and then let him down again. where does he even start to look for a cure ???? remember he has tried 2 diff pumps, relay, all wireing from pump to engine bay this is going on now over a month. he tought he found a plug in glove box that was clicking pluged it out and back in again and it started but stoped again. any help would be great guys. ( excuse my spelling its the pits i know)

A cunning trick employed by our resident expert BrianMoooore is to wire a lamp across the fuel pump. Position the lamp where you can see it whilst driving, if the lamp stays on when the car plays up then you can eliminate the fuel pump wiring.

Dodgy immobiliser installed?
Dodgy ignition switch wiring?

Do as above, and more info on this 'clicking plug' required, including pics if possible.
