i think the injectors on my 1988 325i are getting abit knackerd.
i have a set of injectors from a 1993 520i m50.
i was thinking of trying them in my 325i and see if there is any improvement in the running of the car.
will the ecu adjust its self to run on these m50 injectors.

has anyone tryed this before.

i was reading on an american site that some guy fitted m30 injectors to his m20 325i.
and the ecu adjusted its self to run on them.

You need to look at the flow rating of the injectors in question.

The ECU has no way of knowing what the flow rate is and as such, has no way of adjusting itself.

Even if your car is Lambda equipped, the ECU can only make vague adjustments for idle and very light load driving.

Unless I knew that the M50 injectors were the same flow and impedance as the M20 items, I'd not bother.

i changed my M40 injectors to 520 M50 ones 2 years back without any adjustments.Runs fine till today. The M50 ones have 4 pintles oposed to the M40 single pintle ones hence it fills up the combustion chamber better.u will get better mid range torque.

fitted the injectors today.
there seems to be a slight improvement

i fitted the bosch 0280 150 414 injectors from an m50 520i on a 93 k plate (the data on the 414 m50 ones are slightly better than the 715 m20 ones).
in place of the e30 325i 0280 150 715 injectors.

check out this site i found it has some very interesting info on injectors.

what is the proper spay pattern for a M20? Should a disc or pintle type injector be used?

Pintle is standard on M20/M40, E28 M30 and E30 M42 but lucas disc type on E34 M30 and E36 M42.
