the heater valve that is electric has stopped working or the wire has come off ....its down on the side of the matrix to the right side of your glove box
or did you mean its stopped blowing ...but if there is no heat i would try the valve first as well as checking for any air locks

you should hear the valve click when you turn the heat up, as in when you move it from fully cold.

Have you changed the coolant recently? has it been happening for long?

It could be an airlock.

You've probably got an air lock somewhere in the heater matrix. not exactly sure how you cure this but I'm sure someone'll let you know soon!

undo the bleed screw on your rad at the top next to your expansion cap, turn engine on with your heater on hot and at number 4 with all the vents open, let the engine run up to temp, keep an eye on the level and top it up once the air lock is out. This should do the the trick

would that have anything to do with losing water?

how do you mean? you're going to lose some water before the airlock comes out yes, assuming this is your problem or you don't have a leak anywhere on the coolant system
