Got a litre of this in the garage that I didn't use in one of my old cars. Beemer is going in for oil service and brake fluid change tomorrow, can I give them this to use?

If its properly stored then yes. If its was open for too long then its probably not a good idea.

Its DOT 3 because there were no DOT 4 and DOT 5.1 in those days :)

DOT 5.1 is 100% "compatible" with DOT 3 and 4...just better. Higher boiling point, more resistant to water etc. If its in original bottle and is not open than it will be ok.
